Ferries
Anchors on the coast mark civilian ports. Their ferries carry your armies across the sea.
Civilian ports stand in coastal cities and show an anchor on the map. Ferries sail from them to ports on other lands, so even an island nation can reach the mainland early.
Bring an Army group close to a port and press Board in its panel. Then pick a port at the far end of a ferry lane, on the map or in the panel, and set sail.
Ports in your own lands, a military ally's or free land are open to you. Enemy forces near a port close it to you, and a ferry heading there turns back.
At sea a ferry cannot fight or change course. Enemy warships, jets and coastal batteries can sink it, with everyone aboard.
